[Ayo!]: Some of the Talent Behind the Breathe Freely Anti-Smoking Murals image

  It’s our pleasure to announce that Ayo!’s Breathe Freely project is finally complete and its murals are all over Yerevan. The project happened thanks to Ayo!’s persistent efforts. While its dedicated volunteers organized an awareness-raising campaign advocating for a healthier lifestyle, the many talented artists who painted these murals made it possible to better inform the public of the dangers of second-hand smoke. “Our initiative sought to address the pervasive smoking among Yerevan’s adults by hosting street artists to paint murals throughout Yerevan that bring awareness to the harmful effects of second-hand smoke,” said Ayo!’s manager Jemma Safaryan in one of her interviews during the May 31st Worldwide No Tobacco Day Campaign. [FAR Health Programs]: FAR Health Programs in Spotlight of 12th Armenian Medical World Congress image

It was made clear during the congress that the healthcare sector in rural and underprivileged areas of Armenia has undergone significant changes in the recent past to increase its impact on the most vulnerable, like preschool children. FAR’s very own Dr. Hambardzum Simonyan – the FAR Health Program Director – attended the Congress and shared FAR’s expertise in both healthcare and continuing medical education. The keystone of his speech during a plenary session were the public health and nutrition programs implemented within the scope of the FAR’s Breaking the Cycle of Poverty Program (BCPP)* that focuses on the Tavush region.
