FAR has always been committed to creating and supporting the expansion of excellent medical care as a way to improve the quality of life for Armenians. Armenia boasted one of the most highly developed health care systems prior to its independence from the Soviet Union, under which everyone was guaranteed free and adequate medical care regardless of status. After independence, this system disintegrated entirely. This means that today most doctors and healthcare workers are largely unable to afford the training needed to stay abreast of the latest methodologies and technologies and are constantly faced with a shortage of equipment and supplies.

Through the Continuing Medical Education Program (CME), FAR trains provincial doctors on the latest techniques at leading medical centers in Yerevan free of cost. The program also gives doctors the opportunity to be connected with resources and receive ongoing support from their colleagues in the capital once they return to their home areas and ultimately improve healthcare in their regions.

Lack of medical supplies is also a problem around the country. FAR continually distributes supplies to hospitals and medical centers across Armenia.

FAR also supports the National Medical Library (NML) in Yerevan, where medical students can gain access to the latest technology and medical publications, and keep up with the latest advances in the field..
