Currently, there are about 3,500 children who inhabit Armenia's orphanages and attend its special schools.* The roots of this situation stem from Armenia's weak system of social protections, the insufficient number of community-based services that are available, and the lack of control mechanisms. But there is a great push to overhaul this system and the FAR Children’s Center is a part of it.

[Child Protection]: Children’s Centers Receive Special Holiday Visits image

The day before Archbishop Khajag Barsamian's visit on December 27th, the kids decided to help with the preparations. First, they accompanied the staff of the FAR Children’s Center on their shopping trip for groceries. Upon their return, they divided into groups to prepare festive dishes. Some of the children took over the hot dishes, the rest did the salads. Another group was responsible for the preparation of cake and sweets.
