[VOAH]: Longtime VOAH Supporter Sahan Arzruni Pays a Visit to Armenia standard

After several years since his last visit, musician, renowned philanthropist and FAR supporter Sahan Arzruni, recently decided it was time for him to take another trip to Armenia. In addition to going to several concerts in Yerevan, he also put Vanadzor on his itinerary. As a longtime supporter of Vanadzor Old Age Home (VOAH), Mr. Arzruni last year initiated a successful fundraising campaign to rehabilitate the road leading to the VOAH building. FAR’s Executive Director last year also met with the Vanadzor Mayor Samvel Darbinyan to discuss the timing and approach to the re-construction of the road, which is filled with potholes and always causes trouble for those making deliveries. [FAR Yerevan]: Broadening the Network standard

FAR’s profile will soon be published among 13 other organizations in the new members’ list of the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham). AmCham currently represents around 100 businesses in Armenia that have U.S., European, and local affiliation. It advocates for common member interests, such as tax reform and rule of law, and encourages networking and adoption of best business practices through meetings, conferences and social events. [ANSEF]: FAR Announces 2012 ANSEF Winners. standard

The twelfth annual ANSEF Grants Award Ceremony was held at FAR’s Yerevan Office on January 26. This year, 25 proposals out of the 198 that were submitted received ANSEF grants. Each of these grantees are gifted with $5,000, which they can use to conduct research over the next year. In his opening speech, FAR Country Director Bagrat Sargsyan congratulated all winners and wished them success in their work. During the ceremony he briefly introduced the 12-year history of FAR’s ANSEF Program. He also mentioned that 283 research groups, which include more than a thousand scientists, have received ANSEF grants, which total more than $1.4 million worth of support. [FAR Yerevan]: FAR Aims to Increase Inter-Project Collaboration standard

On October 3rd, FAR’s Yerevan office held a meeting dedicated to project cooperation within FAR programs. As FAR Country Director Bagrat Sargsyan pointed out, the discussion of new opportunities will improve and promote the effectiveness of FAR’s work. Health Programs Coordinator Doctor Hambardzum Simonyan talked about the importance of searching for opportunities to strengthen this cooperation. During the meeting, every FAR program coordinator presented his or her vision about the discussed subject. As a result of interactive discussion, many interesting proposals were announced. [VOAH]: Artin and Aghavni Kalpakian Visit Vanadzor Old Age Home. standard

By Gayane Gevorgyan Recently, the people of Vanadzor Old Age Home (VOAH) had a remarkable day when they received a visit from some honorable guests – Artin and Aghavni Kalpakian, relatives of our beloved benefactor Sirvart Karamanouk,* who visited VOAH from Argentina. FAR Country Director Bagrat Sargsyan accompanied them during their visit. The aim of their trip was to get closely acquainted with the lives of the residents, from the activities that make up their everyday routines, to their thoughts, concerns and feelings.
