Two weeks ago, 15 Armenian-American professionals and students convened at Saint Leon Church Hall in Fair Lawn NJ for a high-level planning meeting hosted by the Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America (www.aesa.org).

This is the second New York-area meeting of the California-based AESA, which aims to develop projects in Armenia that will involve hundreds of talented Armenian scientists and engineers in this region. This meeting was convened by three community leaders: Dr. Garo Khanarian of Dow Chemical, Vahan Tanal of Parsons-Brinkerhoff, and A. Nurhan Becidyan, President of United Mineral & Chemical Corp.  Dr. Khanarian spoke of a future career night, where students will get valuable advice from a panel of experienced experts.

The next AESA-NY gathering is set for September 17 at Fordham University in Manhattan, and all interested students and professionals are encouraged to attend. Membership in this group provides a great opportunity for Armenians in the science community to help shape the future of Armenia!
