Following the passing of ANSEF founder and renowned astrophysicist Dr. Yervant Terzian in 2019, this project was recently renamed The Yervant Terzian Armenian National Science and Education Fund. 

Through the help of grants given to selected research groups every year, ANSEF enables scientists and researchers to pursue their innovative work at home in Armenia, ultimately helping them to promote social and economic growth by further contributing to a knowledge-based economy.

ANSEF provides financial and other resources to support scientific research, advanced technology development and scholarly work in the Republic of Armenia. Since its inception, ANSEF has provided more than $3 million to about 2,500 scientists in Armenia.

ANSEF’s new Advisory Board consists of FAR Board members Armen Avanessians and Lynn Dadourian Barsamian, Esq, and ANSEF founders Aram Chobanian, MD; Garabed Eknoyan, MD; Tavit Najarian, ScD; and Yervant Zorian, PhD. 

ANSEF’s Executive Board consists of co-chairs Ashot Papoyan, PhD and Prof. Vatche Sahakian; Prof. Lerna Ekmekcioglu, Prof. Ruben Minasian, Prof. Anna Ohanyan, Prof. Lilit Yeghiazarian, and Eduard Karapetyan, ANSEF Coordinator at FAR Armenia.

ANSEF was formed in 2000 by the following 19 Armenian-American scientists and academics who were conscious of the importance of science and technology for the well-being of a country and who joined forces to help their counterparts in Armenia:
