Beneficary Portraits - Hovhannes Kajoyan

Updated: Oct 25, 2021

17 year-old Hovhannes Kajoyan is one of the 10 successful applicants to the 2009-2010 Mathevosian Scholarship Program. He was born in Yerevan, and lives with his mother and sister in a studio apartment in the Harav Arevmtyan district buildings.

This year, Hovhannes finished N 162 secondary school after Siamanto with great grades, and was admitted to the Yerevan State University, Department of Informatics and Applied Mathematics. Hovhannes is also fascinated with computing, though he does not have personal computer at home.

Due to lack of financial resources, Hovhannes was not able to adequately prepare for University entrance exams by taking lessons, as many of his peers did.  Instead he studied diligently from his friends' secondhand books, and thanks to his profound knowledge he successfully passed the exam. However, he was admitted to the paid system of the university.  His family has been living on the state allowance and pension, and could not pay the tuition.

Reading the advertisement for the Mathevosian Scholarship Program, Hovhannes applied immediately.  "I had heard of the generosity of FAR and believed in it" said the applicant with a  happy smile and added "when we learned the result, my whole family rejoiced over my triumph!"

Hovhannes dreams of a future in which he is able to become a FAR benefactor, and help others in need, just as FAR has helped him.  "I want to help people like FAR has helped me" stated the young man with decisive tone.
