Throughout the world, June 1st is recognized as International Children’s Rights Protection Day. Events are organized everywhere to celebrate. One of the most remarkable events in Armenia is “The Best for Our Children,” recently held for the fourth time by the Circle of Friends supporters group for the FAR Children’s Center. The event was held in Yerevan’s Victory Park on June 2nd.
Even bad weather could not stop business people, activists, politicians, singers, actors, celebrities, volunteers and hundreds of others from gathering in front of the Mayr Hayastan Monument to unite in support of one common cause: child protection. The park was adorned with posters and banners about the children’s rights.
Through events like these, FAR Children’s Center is seeking to not only raise money and focus public attention on the issues of children, but also continue to cultivate a culture of philanthropy in Armenia. Representatives from twelve Armenian companies, including Coca Cola Armenia, Ashtarak-Kat CJSC, Grand Candy, Sandora Juice, Noyan Juice, Bjni/Noy, Tamara, Dilijan Frolova, Martin Star, ASA Co Ltd., Agness Cake and Nurofen, as well as Moscow House donated their products (cookies, juice, ice cream, water, candies, colorful balloons, etc.) for the event, which raised more than one million AMD for the center’s programs. Monetary contributions were also given by Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan, Yerevan City Supermarket Chains, ANELIK Bank and Ashtarak Kat. H1, Shant TV, ATV and Sigma TV also covered the event.
