We are excited to announce that FAR and Gyumri Information Technologies Center (GITC) are featured in an article in MarketWatch about the burgeoning tech hub of Armenia.
Our team helped initiate the story and arranged several of the interviews with noted financial journalist James Rogers. These included GITC Board Member Peter Michaelian, Amalya Yeghoyan, executive director of GITC, and Arda Nazerian, a founding board member of the Armenia Project, who was interviewed as an external contributor.
This comprehensive story began with an interview James conducted with Amalya Yeghoyan, executive director of the Gyumri Information Technologies Center in Armenia’s second-largest city, in NYC when she addressed the United Nations sixty-eighth session on "The Role of Technology in Empowering Women Financially" in March and grew to include input from nine different technology professionals and experts on the technology sector in Armenia.
In the article, she highlights the American impact on Armenia’s tech sector — not just in terms of investment, but also expertise: “They bring technology know-how to Armenia,” she said. Yeghoyan is focused on developing future Armenian tech workers and engineers through the GITC, which was founded in 2005 by the U.S.-based Fund for Armenian Relief. The organization, which covers all of Armenia’s 11 regions, has graduated more than 15,000 young people with certifications in skills such as web technology and electrical engineering.
