FAR and Japan Embassy Collaboration Elevates Child Protection Center to International Standards

Thanks to the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGP) program of the Embassy of Japan in Armenia, co-financed by the Fund for Armenian Relief, the Child Protection Center (*formerly known as FAR Children Center) has recently reopened its doors with a renovated and re-equipped floor, ready to provide care for children in accordance with international quality standards.

As part of this grant program, the Center’s children’s bedroom floor underwent comprehensive renovations. Bathrooms were built and upgraded to meet quality standards, and spaces for children’s entertainment and recreation were newly furnished, creating a welcoming and functional environment. This project is a significant step toward enhancing the physical and emotional well-being of children under the Center's care.

The renovated area was officially inaugurated on December 5, with the presence of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Mr. Aoki Yutaka, who joined the ceremony to celebrate this meaningful milestone.

“Seeing the smiles of the children makes me very happy. It is a heartwarming feeling to participate in the completion ceremony of the renovation project at the Child Protection Center. The joint efforts of the Embassy of Japan and FAR are a significant step towards increasing the safety, functionality, and emotional well-being of the center’s beneficiaries through structural reforms. This program not only ensures renovation but also meets the growing demand for the Center’s services, ensuring the safety and dignity of all children. I am happy to support the creation of an environment that provides a safe, stress-free space for children to play, learn, and develop the skills they need to succeed in life. Seeing these comfortable conditions, I sincerely hope the children enjoy their time here,” said the Ambassador in his welcoming speech.

Months of dedicated work have resulted in a more child-centered and personalized approach for the physical, emotional, and psychological care of the children residing at the Center.

“For almost two and a half decades, the Child Protection Center has been one of the prides of the Fund for Armenian Relief. Through the services provided here, families in Armenia are united, strengthened, and given hope. Hundreds and thousands of children have experienced the joy of family care and warmth. Thanks to this institution, children regain peace of mind, psychological calm, the sparkle in their eyes, and their beautiful smiles and bubbly laughter return," shared Margarit Piliposyan, FAR’s Executive Director of Operations.

“Today, we celebrate a joyful occasion. This renovation is a wonderful New Year’s gift for all children and for everyone invested in the well-being and protection of children's rights in Armenia. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Japanese government, and in particular, the Embassy of Japan in Armenia, for their invaluable collaboration. Because of this partnership, children facing challenging circumstances will now experience this difficult stage of life in a bright, safe, and dignified environment,” she concluded.
