Several members of the Gyumri Information Technology Center’s staff joined a recent IT Club Meeting at the Tsaghkadzor Writers’ Union House. Staff members who participated include instructor Aram Harutyunyan; Narek Tadevosyan, system administrator; Gurgen Paronyan, executive director; Andranik Ghukasyan, project manager; and web developers Kristine Gyulbekyan and Karen Achemyan.
The IT Club was created to provide a forum, where specialists from IT companies could meet regularly to exchange ideas and network. The club currently has more than 150 members. This particular meeting focused on how to expand and develop the IT sphere in Armenia, as well as the status of the growing IT sector in Armenia.
FAR, in partnership with several technology companies, created GTech in 2005 with the goal of broadening the skills of young Armenians and expanding opportunities in the region. GTech also helps to bolster development by providing an incubator space for new start up IT businesses.
Recent graduates have joined the GTEch group headed by Andranik as a core of the newly established GTech offshore business development unit. With support from FAR’s network the young IT specialists will be working on outsourced software and web development projects.
