Legendary actor Vahram Papazyan's fame spread throughout Armenia to Russia and Europe during the early 20th century. A recent article in Yerevan magazine highlights his contributions to Armenian theater and art.
Shakespeare’s plays have graced Armenian theatres for quite some time and from the rich repertoire of Shakespearean characters, the role of Othello performed by Vahram Papazyan is one of the most memorable. The great actor has carried this role throughout his life, but even at the peak of his glory, with a hint of humor and regret, he remembered his first performance of “Othello” in his native Constantinople, in a Greek theatre named Odeon.
