The United States sees the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections in Armenia as opportunities “to restore broad faith in Armenian democracy” and affirms its commitment to helping the country “reach its full potential”, said outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch in her farewell statement released on Friday.
“Only Armenians themselves can take the steps to fulfill their democratic aspirations, but the American people stand ready to help Armenia realize this moment for progress,” said Yovanovitch, who completes her three-year tour of duty in Armenia and returns to Washington to take a senior Department of State post.
