[FAR New York | FAR Events]: Christmas Gift Distribution in Shamshadin Region standard

By Margarita Piliposyan FAR is very grateful to an important benefactor, Mr. John Thomas, who helped to make this Christmas a little more enjoyable for children in the Shamshadin region of Armenia.  The distribution of gift bags (which included candy, chocolate, toys, silver crosses and prayer cards) to fifty underprivileged children was administered by Der Aram, the only priest serving the region. Despite the foggy weather on the day of the scheduled distribution, the beneficiary children traveled to the Tovuz village church on December 23rd to receive Der Aram’s blessings along with their gifts.  Prior to the gift bag distribution, Der Aram thanked Mr. John Thomas and FAR for injecting some Christmas cheer into the lives of the local children. [FAR New York | FAR Events]: FAR Supports Growing Shirak Diocese standard

Last month, the Shirak diocese celebrated the 10th anniversary of the leadership of Primate Bishop Mikael Ajapahyan, a highly educated theologian and a spiritual leader of his community.  In 1999, Vardapet Mikael Ajapahyan was appointed as a primate, and later consecrated as bishop. During his 10 years of leadership, the Shirak Diocese has grown to become an integral part of the community, present in almost every aspect of life. When Bishop Ajapahyan arrived in 1999, the Shirak Diocese consisted of only 4 priests and 4 churches.  Today, the diocese oversees 16 priests and more than 25 acting churches. The Diocese oversees administrative offices, Social-Educational Centers, a Youth Center, a seminary, an orphanage, a summer camp, and Sunday schools.  To celebrate ...

[FAR New York | FAR Events]: Honoring Armenia’s Healthcare Professionals. standard

Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Eastern Diocese, along with the FAR Board of Directors, recently hosted a dinner at the Diocese to honor the service of a distinguished group of Armenia’s healthcare professionals, most of them former FAR Medical Fellows. Also in attendance at the event were Professor Harutyun Kushkyan, Minister of Health of Armenia, Dr. Armen Khachatryan, Minister of Health of Republic of Nagorno- Karabakh, and Mrs. Hranush Hakobyan, Minister of Diaspora of Armenia. Dr. E. Housepian, Dr. A. Chobanian, Prof. H. Kushkyan, and Dr. A.
