[Hayastani Kidak]: 2010 Young Professionals Trip – Registration is Closing Tomorrow! standard

The two-week 2010 Young Professionals Trip to Armenia will take place from July 7th to July 21st, 2010. During our time in Armenia, we will travel to Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. Holy Etchmiadzin, the Noravank monastery, and the Genocide Memorial and Museum are on our itinerary. Events will give us access to TV shows, the Armenian music scene, and Armenia’s rich contemporary culture. We will meet with religious and government leaders, including His Holiness Karekin II Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians as well as the Minister of Diaspora, Hranoush Hakobyan. [FAR New York]: FAR Attends Conference on Cultural Genocide. standard

Representatives from FAR attended an international conference on Tuesday, April 20, which was organized by The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and the Republic of Armenia Diaspora Ministry. The conference was held in the museum’s Erebuni Hall. This particular event focused on cultural genocide — the destruction of the national, spiritual, and cultural heritage of a people. Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan opened. She was followed by panels moderated by representatives from Yerevan State University, Armenia’s Constitutional Court, and the Ministry of Justice from the Netherlands, among others. Experts also spoke about the genocide’s impact on Armenian art, language, and music. [FAR New York]: The next sacred relic. standard

When Margaret Ajemian Ahnert’s book The Knock at the Door about her mother Ester’s terrifying experience during the Armenian genocide was published in the USA in 2007, it immediately received wide critical acclaim. Marina Bazayeva and FAR Press Secretary Levon Lachikyan recently translated the text into Armenian thanks to a Fund for Armenian Relief initiative. On March 30 many gathered to celebrate this great work. Margaret traveled from the U.S. to be at the Armenian Genocide Museum for the presentation of the book’s new translation.
