[FAR Yerevan]: FAR Expands its Support to the Remote Border Region of Shamshadin. standard

By Margarit Piliposyan In order to expand the coverage of its activities to the places most in need in Armenia, FAR has decided to stretch its helping hand toward one of the most remote and vulnerable regions of Armenia – the Shamshadin region of Tavush marz. Situated in the northeastern part of Armenia, Tavush marz includes Ijevan, Tavush, Noyemberyan and Shamshadin. The region borders Gegharkunik and Kotayk marzes to the south; Lori marz and Georgia to the north; and Azerbaijan to the east. Berd, its major town, is located about 200 kilometers from Yerevan, and has a population of roughly 9,000 people. [CASP]: CASP Volunteer Honored at Distribution in Gyumri. standard

The Children of Armenia Sponsorship Program (CASP) recently completed another distribution in Gyumri. An unprecedented 90 orphaned children received stipends from CASP. The most recent distribution was also an opportunity to honor one of CASP’s most dedicated volunteers. Anne Terkanian is one of three members of the Women’s Guild Central Council of the Eastern Diocese of America, which runs CASP. Ms. Terkanian, who is the CASP data manager, attended the most recent distribution, which was the eighth one to take place in Gyumri. [ANSEF]: ANSEF 2011 Presentation at FAR’s Yerevan Office. standard

This year’s 25 new recipients of the Armenian National Science and Education Fund (ANSEF) grants received a warm welcome at FAR’s Yerevan office on January 27. This is the 11th year of FAR’s ANSEF program and new grantees bring a wealth of experience in the various spheres of science, including physics, astronomy, chemistry and biology. FAR’s Deputy Country Director Margarit Piliposyan, Educational and Scientific Programs Coordinator Eduard Karapetyan, and Press Secretary Levon Lachikyan welcomed the scientists and congratulated them on their awards. [CASP]: 206 Beneficiaries Receive Financial Stipends standard

In early October, FAR was proud to send its own Margarit Piliposyan along with CASP Program Coordinator Eduard Karapetyan to visit the Syunik region of Armenia.  There, Margarit and Eduard distributed the 100 USD stipends to the 206 beneficiaries of this year’s CASP program. Last week marked the conclusion of the second stage of Project Smile in Armenia.  As part of Project Smile, visiting health specialists from across the globe came together to help the Armenian community fight cleft lip and cleft palate disorders.  At FAR, we like to say that the new smiles will spread a little more kindness throughout the world! A few weeks ago, those involved in the project’s implementation were invited to a farewell celebration at Arma restaurant in Yerevan.  The initiator and cofounder of the “Smile” Project in Armenia, Madeleine Minasyan – Ispiryan, expressed special thanks to the Fund for Armenian Relief for its dedicated work and successful implementation of the mission. [CASP]: Visiting the Syunik Region standard

A delegation of three FAR representatives – Country Deputy Director Margarit Piliposyan, Educational Programs Coordinator Eduard Karapetyan and Press Secretary Levon Lachikyan – visited the Syunik region of Armenia, where 219 children are beneficiaries of CASP.  The purpose of the trip was to meet some of the beneficiary families and to make home visits evaluate children’s living conditions.  FAR’s CASP (Children of Armenia Sponsorship Program) allows donors to provide direct support to Armenian children in need.
