[FAR New York]: New Fund to Support Musical Education in Gyumri standard

FAR is pleased to announce the start of the new “Galoust Galo Educational Fund”, which will exclusively support Gyumri’s Octet School of Music. The fund is made possible through the support of Ms. Edna Galo of New York. It was in 2006 that Edna first heard about the Octet School where more than 200 young and talented musicians pursued their studies in classical and folk music despite sub-par housing conditions until massive renovations were completed in 2013 through the support of the Mardigian Family Foundation. [FAR Schools]: A Gift for the Gavar Special School standard

Friends of Gavar Special School recently presented the gift of a van to Gavar Special School #1 in Gegharquniq Marz. Fully equipped with winter-ready tires, the van was presented by Friends Chairman Krikor Krikorian during a small ceremony on the grounds that was also broadcast on Qyavar TV in Armenia. Larisa Zazyan, Director of Gavar Special School, opened the ceremony with words of gratitude for the Friends group, which is based in New York. The school is delighted to have the support of the fund, which greatly contributes to improving the children’s learning environment and development. A few months ago, FAR staff members and music students crossed the threshold of a school that was almost ready to welcome the children who had long been waiting to find themselves in a renovated place where their music will resound in fresh tones. New-York based attorney Anahid Ugurlayan runs a marathon to support a charity each year. This year, she raised funds for two charities at the Hamptons Marathon: the Armenian Relief Society and the Fund for Armenian Relief. Anahid has been a supporter of FAR for many years. She first witnessed its deep investment in Armenia’s vulnerable population and promotion of individual rights during her first trip in Armenia in 2002 with the Young Professionals.
